I will have to disagree with you here Lewis. I think as believers we are commanded to both spread the gospel and confront false teaching when it arises. I think the church today has borrowed a page from the politically correct tolerance mantra of the day and has ceased to expose error.
Because we fail to speak, our silence leads the world to believe we are in agreement with the teachings of these false teachers.
This is not simply my opinion which counts for very little but rather it is the command of Scripture. Notice Paul's words to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:1-2,6. "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron...If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed."

lewis - I understand what you are saying, there is a need for balance, but misleading peole on the way of salvation is a very grievous error.
